This document provides information on how to install the Unix print services on Windows, so the Windows printer driver can print directly to PStill. On a computer that is running XP, 2000 or NT please check out this information: HOW TO: Install and Configure Print Services for UNIX (NT, 2000, XP) On a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 to print to a printer or print server that uses the LPD protocol like PStill, you can use the Network Printer Installation wizard and a Standard TCP/IP printer port. However you must install the Line Printer Remote (LPR) Port Monitor feature to print to a UNIX print server:
For selecting a suitable printer type please refer to the PStill Guide at page 20. Note: You don't want to install the Windows Line Printer Server Services ('LPD Print Service') on the same machine you plan to run GPStill as virtual server. Otherwise the printer port may be locked by Windows own services and GPStill is unable to receive jobs. You only want to install the printer Port Monitor ('LPD Port Monitor') features as described above. |
